Buenos Aires, December 15 (NA) – The Campo Argentino de Polo was the stage chosen for a night steeped in nostalgia and musical excellence, featuring Christopher Cross and TOTO, two renowned names in international pop and rock from the seventies and eighties. They presented their careers to the Buenos Aires audience and confirmed the enduring appeal of a repertoire that continues to captivate generations. The concert, covered by the Noticias Argentinas news agency, began with the renowned DJ Alejandro Pont Lezica, who opened the event and set the perfect mood with a curated selection of pop and rock classics. Following this performance, accompanied by families in a super pleasant atmosphere, Christopher Cross's band took the stage. They opened the live show, focusing on the most representative songs of his career with a very characteristic retro style and a stage presence marked by elegance alongside his backing vocalists. The musician offered emotive performances, supported by a high-level band including David Mann (saxophone), Francis Arnaud (drums), Kevin Reveyrand (bass), Jerry Leonide (piano), Chrissi Poland (vocals), and backing vocalists Lisbet Guldbeck and Shelley Peters. The concert began with "All right," one of his most recognized songs worldwide, followed by "Never be the same." After thanking the audience and celebrating his return to the country, Cross performed "I really Don't know anymore," where the piano and saxophone arrangements stood out. The repertoire continued with songs like "Walking in avalon" and "You," which put the group's vocal work and harmony in the spotlight. One of the most anticipated moments arrived with "Sailing," an emblematic song from his debut album, winner of multiple Grammy Awards. Later, Cross moved the audience with "Arthur's Theme (best that you can do)," generating one of the warmest reactions of the night. The setlist also included a special version of "Open up my window," performed in Spanish under the title "Abro mi ventana," in an intimate passage that combined acoustic guitar, vocals, and delicate arrangements. The repertoire advanced with "99," "Mindfields," and "Pamela," interspersed with greetings and messages of closeness to the audience. The band was also very warm with the public, constantly moving from side to side of the stage to greet all spectators. After a 30-minute interval, the long-awaited TOTO arrived, who opened their show with "Child's anthem," which quickly got a large part of the audience on their feet, and continued with "Carmen" and "Rosanna," unleashing euphoria at the Campo Argentino de Polo and bringing back many joyful memories. The 2025 TOTO lineup featured Steve Lukather as the only original member, accompanied by Joseph Williams on vocals, Greg Phillinganes on keyboards, Dennis Atlas on piano and synthesizers, John Pierce on bass, Shannon Forrest on drums, and Warren Ham on winds and backing vocals. The final part of the show was marked by "I'll be over you," "Stop loving you," "I'll supply the love," the unexpected "Hold the line," and an incredible and explosive closing with "Africa," where people applauded and cheered for an encore from this legendary band.
